Title: Common integration challenges
Post by: FazalGR on June 10, 2026, 07:50:35 AM
When MSPs attempt to keep the integrated stack cohesive, three issues consistently arise.
Data structure mismatch. The PSA software, RMM tools (https://www.gorelo.io), and each client's ITSM differ in terms of ticket ID formats, naming conventions, priority scales, and category taxonomies. Without sacrificing fidelity, the integration layer must normalize. The majority of MSPs manage this by manually mapping each integration, which is effective for two or three connections before stopping around twenty.
Security and API surface. Every integration is a connection that has been verified. Credentials, scope, rotation requirements, and an audit trail are all included in every authorized connection. The credential surface is substantial across a PSA, RMM, billing, documentation, and twenty client ITSMs. When the security evaluation arrives, the majority of MSPs become aware of this.
Process mapping. Clean mapping is required for both internal (alert-to-ticket-to-technician-to-resolved-to-billed) and external (client-files-ticket-to-MSP-works-to-status-back-to-client) workflows. The team setting up the integration often does not perform the mapping, which is service-design work. Long-term drift is caused by its absence.

These are issues with the operating model masquerading as integration difficulties. They cannot be solved by tools alone.
